Quick update from The Rev….
When I started the broadcasting division of the ministry way back in 1998 I didn’t expect that I would own and run a radio/tv station online. People thought I was crazy cause I built a TV Studio set in my garage. I didn’t even own a camera, equipment or a forum to start a broadcast. But the drive in me to do TV/Film kept pushing me to learn how to do it. With very limited funds I decided to take free and low cost classes at the local access channel, Houston Media Source. I spent hours a week taking every video editing class in linear and non-linear that was available. I also took classes from basic to advance camera operations, how to work with a crew in a studio and lighting techniques. Back at that time I really didn’t get to produce much or even reach any goals in video. But God had a plan!
In fact, I really didn’t even want to become a publisher, especially after my first book. It all started in 2003 when God put in my heart to write a book about my testimony from the Navy “My Military Life and the Power of God.” I had several vanity publishers contact me to accept my book but they all wanted big dollars to produce it. So I decided to self publish not because of the cost but because I felt I was suppose to. After the first printing I reviewed my book it was not the best quality print job nor the best written book either. I couldn’t even give these books away. But God had a plan!
On both occasions I felt very disappointed, like I must have missed God at some point along the way. Little did I know that He had my best interests in mind. A very good friend of mine tells me continually, “Everything we do for the Lord does something good,” which he learned from his brother. That is so true, we never really know how much good whether it be small or big. But it does something good. We read in Ecclesiastes 11:6, “In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.” Whenever you feel like you just don’t know if your efforts really mattered after sowing your heart into something please remember that scripture.
God has a way of working the plan for your life to your benefit even when you think you may have wasted time, messed up or missed the mark. In 1991 I graduated from Columbia Broadcasting in Radio Broadcasting. I never intended to be a radio broadcaster I enrolled in the film program but it was shut down, so they gave me the option to do radio. I went directly into the Navy upon graduating so I never used my degree. Who knew that 18 years later in 2009, that God would use that knowledge of radio to help launch an online radio station known as RevMedia Network. Today we are operating three full-time channels Talk Radio, Music and Sermons. We broadcasting an original TV Channel with ministers around the world. Our first TV Studio Set will be completed in August 2011 (oh yeah it has the same colors as the garage one I built years ago). We have reached two million people through our websites and station. God had a plan!
In 2005, we also became known as RevMedia Publishing. Soon after my first printing, the largest distribution company in the USA contacted us to let us know of a pilot printing division that they had just kicked off. They wanted us to try putting the book through them to print, so I did. They offered all the assistance to help understand at the production level to the highest quality available. An added benefit was that because I used this company’s printing division it automatically listed me in the market place for distribution around the world. After a few years of tweaking the process in 2009, we officially launched an elite product with my second book “Almost Out of Grace” Since then we have published several authors, printed several books that are distributed in printed and Ebook in the USA, UK and Australia through this same company. As they have grown in technology we have grown right beside them. God had a plan!
I leave you with a scripture to encourage you in all the things you do for the Lord. Hebrews 6:10, “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have showed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”
